The Château Haut-Lafitte and its vineyard rest in a clearing surrounded by a thick forest. In the South-East of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the wine is a Cru Classé de Graves. Already in 1365, a certain Verrier du Bosq acquired the property to grow vines. In the 18th century, a Scottish merchant, Georges Smith, bought the property and gave it his name. In the 1855 classification, Château Smith Haut Lafitte received the title of Grand Cru classé.

Warm redcurrants, baked blackberries and crème de cassis with hints of spice cake, dried roses, underbrush and pencil lead plus a waft of candied violets . Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a fantastic core of densely packed red and black fruits, framed by wonderfully ripe, rounded tannins.
