In 1987, Paolo De Marchi grafted Chardonnay onto existing vines on the Isole e Olena estate. Since then they have produced some of Tuscany’s finest Chardonnay. After fermentation in barrel, the wine remained on the lees in oak barrels, of which one third were new, for approximately ten months.
On the nose has spicy, buttery aromas. On the palate, it balances ripe, buttery fruit, fresh bread crust from the oven, with a hint of spice from the oak ageing and a long, slightly citrus finish.
